As you mentioned, driver for this card was installed automatically and was working fine on your friend’s Windows 8 computer, however, it does not work on Windows 7. There could be possibility of compatibility issue.
Probably, this card is not compatible with Windows 7. I would suggest you to check connecting this card on any other Windows 7 computer and see if it automatically detects and installs the driver. You can check Windows Update any time to see if it's found updated drivers for your hardware, especially if you recently installed a new device. Then, you can install the updated drivers.
