Hello, I've been using Ubuntu for about ten years now and so far,except for a few hiccups,it's been great. I recently switched to Mint 17 mate because of some of the bugs in Ubuntu 14.04. And i like the looks of mint better.Everything installed on my Toshiba laptop just fine except for my printers. I have an HP Desk Jet 5850 and a Laser Jet 1300 that worked fine under Ubuntu 12.04. When I plugged in the usb cable, both printers are recognized, and appear to be installed correctly.

When I printed a test page, it took the Laser Jet over a minute to start printing. The Desk Jet, never prints. I see the message, job 5 sent to hp 5850, and the printer jobs say pending but nothing prints. I tested both printers with a windows laptop and they work fine.
I tried to print with my wife's ubuntu 12.04 laptop but the printers wont print on her's either. I know there's a printing bug in Ubuntu 14.04. Has that carried over to Mint? Any help that anyone can give would be appreciated. I do a lot of printing and this is really slowing me down.
